Maxi skirts

The maxi skirt is everywhere and I love it! If you saw my stories yesterday, you will have seen this skirt above from Hush Homewear that I bought in the sale for £35. It’s the Botanical print maxi skirt and it’s so beautiful. The material is silky and flowy, and it will take me through to autumn paired with a cashmere jumper and boots. Link here https://www.hush-uk.com/m/womenswear/daywear/skirts/maxi_printed_skirt.htm

Maxi skirts in a bold print are fab to throw on with a t-shirt and trainers for a more casual look, or a plain cami and sandals for a night out.

I’ve had a browse at ASOS, M&S and TU At Sainsbury’s and found some lovely skirts that can be worn both ways.

The Bardot dress

I’m in love with the Bardot style dress and I hope it stays around for a while. I think it’s so flattering to see a woman’s neckline and shoulders, and I’m not to happy showing my arms so it’s the ideal dress style for me.

I think they look great with espadrilles or wedges (gold wedges old) similar linked here http://m.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/view-all-shoes/gold-knot-front-cork-wedge-heels_518770993?productFind=search

My gold leather bag can be used as a shoulder or clutch, it’s a beautiful soft gold colour with chain strap. Ideal for day or night. Get 10% off using code ‘STYLE10’ Available from the link here https://www.franchettibond.co.uk/albina-gold-leather-clutch-bag.html

I bought this boho style dress from Primark a while ago, and I’m not sure if it’s still available. So I’ve linked a few below that I love. All available from ASOS

Boho babe

It’s the perfect weather to get your Kaftan’s out! Floaty, airy and tassels galore. Thought I’d hunt around for my favourite ones out there at the minute and share them with you. This one I’m wearing is from Zara and is a lovely cotton with bright yellow tassels, perfect with jeans or denim shorts when it’s really hot. Zara Kaftan £25.99 link https://m.zara.com/uk/en/woman/tops/view-all/embroidered-tunic-top-c0p4577004.html

There are lots of sales on at the minute and I’ve seen a few sparky flats around. These are from KG by Carvela, they are so comfy, they have similar ones in House of Fraser link https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/shoes-and-boots/carvela-bonanza-sandals/d795682.pd#260866222

Gingham & Chanel

There is something about gingham that screams ‘girly chic’ It’s everywhere, in skirts, Bardot tops, trousers and dresses. Blue, red, yellow and black are all colours that I’ve seen on the high street. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not for everyone, and believe me I have walked away from loads of dresses that I absolutely love, but just didn’t look right on me. I tried the famous Topshop gingham skirt on, but again this wasn’t the right shape for me.

The gingham ruffle skirt above is from M&S and is such a flattering shape (for me) it’s a pencil fit with a high waist and just skims my curves in the right places.

http://www.marksandspencer.com/gingham-ruffle-pencil-midi-skirt/p/p60117232?image=SD_01_T59_4910_Y4_X_EC_90&color=BLACKMIX&prevPage=srp&pdpredirect

In this look, I’ve paired my gingham gorgeousness with a plain black tee from HM £6.99  http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0464363001.html#Black

The black block heeled shoes dress up the skirt and are available through Aldo for £50 https://www.aldoshoes.com/uk/en_UK/Brookshear-Black/p/51145656-98

…and to finish the outfit off, the Chanel of course. My absolute favourite bag that just goes with any outfit.

To dress the skirt down, pop on some white trainers for a more casual look, a great daytime alternative. White trainers from Mango £29.99  http://shop.mango.com/GB/p0/woman/accessories/shoes/sneakers/contrast-applique-sneakers?id=13050435_01&n=1&s=accesorios.zapatos

Overall a great skirt for dressing up or down.

Have a lovely evening, Joanna x

The little white dress

Don’t you just love it when you find a dress, that when you try on, You immediately love. I’m one of those people that doesn’t make quick decisions anymore about clothes. I’m one of those who goes back and tries things on 3 or 4 times before I actually buy it! However, this Next Official dress is white, floaty, 100% cotton and looks great with most footwear. I’ve paired it with my white Converse which also seem to go with everything!

Converse from Office £54.99 http://www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,21/2452010866

My handbag today is from the lovely Anne Hudson Boutique, it’s the perfect cross body that can fit all my bits in. It’s a lovely grey with a metallic foil stripe.

Available from https://www.ahboutique.co.uk/

This denim jacket is so old, but I just can’t seem to find one that comes close to it. I’m still on the hunt for a new one. I’ve linked one here that I have my eye on.

http://www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=000415738001

My only accessory today was this beautiful watch from Stella & Dot. It’s the Pyramid tank watch-Exotic £85 linked here http://www.stelladot.co.uk/shop/en_gb/jewelry/watches

Overall the dress is fab, and it comes in black too! But don’t tempt me. http://www.next.co.uk/g9520s6#426642

Wishing you a lovely evening of internet browsing, Joanna x

Wear what you love

IMG_9015

One of my favourite things to do is to put a fun outfit together. I have had this Primark skirt for a while now and if I’m honest I have only wore it a couple of times. Its such a beautiful skirt and for me its just building up my confidence to wear it more. I do love to wear things that stand out a little and I have become a lot more confident doing this the older I’ve got.

It’s interesting because just a few weeks ago, Zoe from ‘dresslikeamum’ was saying that some mums had been in touch with her saying they had received negative vibes from other mums because they had wore something cool and fashionable, like bright pink trousers or silver shoes to do the school run in. I mean why is this still happening? Why are grown women criticizing and tearing down other women? Support each other, say something nice, its not hard and you will make that mum feel great if you do. I love to give compliments, and whenever I see someone wearing something I like, I will always ask that person where they bought it. It has happened to me and it immediately makes you feel great!

We also need to stop worrying about what other people might be thinking, and feel a bit more confident in wearing ‘what we love’. I’m definitely doing this more.

IMG_9016

I’ve paired this gorgeous skirt with some really comfy trainers from Holster Australia. They are called the Jetsetter.  http://www.holsteraustralia.co.uk/jetsetter.html

IMG_9013

Don’t you just love trainers with a pretty skirt?

The red tee is from H&M it is a slogan tee at the back, it says ‘lets meet in los angeles’ I think the pop of red brings the red flower out in the skirt beautifully. The tee is £8.99 and available http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0465861021.html#Red

IMG_9017

You can easily take it from day to night with some gorgeous statement jewellery from http://www.scoutingforpearls.com/product-category/rings/ This emerald green ring and art deco bracelet brings out the green detail in the skirt. The clutch is a timeless classic from Dior.

My everyday makeup

IMG_0091

I have had a lot of you lovely ladies asking me what make-up I use, so I wanted to share with you my favourite beauty products that I use almost every day. I’m not one for wearing loads of make-up, I always feel and look better with a more natural look. I don’t own any contouring palettes as I wouldn’t know where to start, and I’m pretty old school when it comes to applying make-up. I have linked all the products below that created this look in the photo above.

My favourite product at the minute is the Christian Dior Dream Skin, which is what I put on my face after cleansing. Its a pink serum that immediately smooth’s fine lines and pores, and is a great base for your foundation.

covers_Y0291320_F029433000Dream Skin serum £105 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/dior/dior-capture-totale-dreamskin-perfect-creator-50ml/261384257.pd

I then use Christian Dior Capture Totale Fluide foundation in No.22 This is a great foundation, it covers all blemishes and evens out skintone, I always apply this with a beauty blender by dabbing the foundation all over until even.

IMG_0872

Capture Totale £62 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/beauty/dior-capture-totale-fluide-foundation/d459378.pd#194593664

I always use an under eye brightener, and my favourite one at the minute is the Benefit Ooh La La which is an instant brightener for bags! I apply this under the eyes and under the eyebrows, dabbing with my finger.

IMG_0266

Ooh La La lift £19.50 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/search#benefit-brighten

I then use the Benefit Hoola bronzer all over my face for a natural tan look, its a matt bronzer so has no shimmer which I like. I apply this with a big soft bronzing brush.

IMG_0272

Benefit Hoola Bronzer £24.50 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/beauty/benefit-hoola-bronzing-powder/734049083.pd#q=benefit-hoola-bronzer

The best blusher around has got to be the Benefit Galifornia, its a sunny pinky peach blush that gives you such a natural glow. I pop it just on the apples of my cheeks for a rosy glow.

IMG_0270

Benefit Galifornia Blusher £24.50 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/search#benefit galifornia

My eyeshadow is one that ive been using for years and it immediately brightens my eye, its the MAC matt eyeshadow in Gesso. (will have to get a new one very soon) I apply this to the lids and just underneath my bottom lashes for brightness. It always makes my eyes look brighter and awake.

IMG_0276

MAC eyeshadow in Gesso £13.50 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/beauty/mac-eye-shadow/d309862.pd#160687740

For my eyebrows I just lightly go over them with Loreal paris brow artist pencil in dark brown. I have quite big eyebrows so I don’t need a lot of product.

Loreal-Brow-Artist-Shaper-Eyebrow-Eye-Brow-Pencil

This eyebrow pencil is great and is not expensive at £5.99 http://www.boots.com/loreal-paris-brow-artist-eyebrow-pencil-10154566

The one and only mascara that gives me the false eyelash effect is the Christian Dior Diorshow mascara in black. It has a big brush and is easy to apply. I always apply 2 coats.

IMG_0267

Diorshow Mascara £25.50 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/beauty/dior-diorshow-mascara/d586589.pd#221628001,q=christian-dior-mascara

The lipstick I’m using at the minute is the MAC Patentpolish Lippencil in colour Hopelessly Devoted. Its a great colour for day or night, and is really moisturising on the lips too.

IMG_0269

MAC Lip pencil in Hopelessly Devoted £18 https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/beauty/mac-patentpolish-lip-pencil/d489474.pd#200716166

IMG_0091

So I’m pretty simple when it comes to make-up but I also think that less is more. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Wishing you a lovely day, Joanna x

Glam Macs

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I thought I would do a quick blog on some rain coats, macs, parkas whatever you like to call them. The weather doesn’t look to good over the next few days so wanted to see if I could find any Mac’s that weren’t too boring or dull. To be honest its not my favourite item of clothing, but this one I’m wearing from Next has some pretty nice detail to it and sort of pimps it up a bit (which is what I loved about it)

IMG_0566

It has ruched sleeves and a tie detail, with a drawstring waist and oversized fit. This is available through Next at £78 http://www.next.co.uk/g50108s5

Hush Melanie dress £55 https://www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/dresses_skirts/melanie_dress_racing_red.htm

Any of these dresses would look good with sandals or trainers, I have tried the Hush dress on so I can tell you that its a nice relaxed fit and feels really silky too.

And yes there are 11 dresses not 10, I snuck another one in for you..

Hope you like my picks today, Joanna x
