A mooch around Boots

I thought I would pop into Boots and do a blog post on beauty and hair products that have caught my eye recently.

My biggest local store is at the Metrocentre in Gateshead and there is always good offers on, like the 3 for 2 offer and it stocks a multitude of well known brands.

The Boots advantage card is great too as it gives you 4 pence/points to every £1 you spend, which is great as it’s a shop I spend a lot of my time in. I’m forever buying toiletries and haircare products and always on the hunt for new makeup products.

Im going to talk through a couple of Boots own brands that you may not know about and also show you a couple of new products from some of the more well known brands too.

First of all I’m going to tell you about C.Y.O who are an insanely versatile makeup brand that gives you the freedom to create.

Lots of great colourful lip glosses and if you buy 2 cosmetics you receive a C.Y.O face jewel pack.

Their ‘Turn on the light’ illuminating mixing cream looks and feels fabulous. Use alone, mix with foundation or use on top. You can use it to highlight cheeks, brows and eyes. It gives your skin a natural sexy glow and instantly brightens the skin making you look more awake. I would mix it with C.Y.O long lasting foundation for a more natural glow.

Soap & Glory is another great brand. They have a wide choice of makeup, bath & body products.

Their ‘pillow plump’ leaves your lips looking lustrous, moisturised and plump.

They do some some great gift sets too and they would make fab birthday or Christmas presents for your daughters, sisters, mums or best friends. I know my daughter is a fan of the righteous butter lotion which she got in one of the gift sets last Christmas.

Gift set £20 BOOTS

If you love your eye makeup then you’re going to love the new ‘wonder swipe’ from Rimmel.

Available in a choice of gorgeous colours. You can transform your bold metallic liner into a sparkle shadow with the stroke of your finger. You just apply like you would a normal liquid eyeliner on the eyelid and then to reveal the sparkle shadow, blend it with a brush or your finger, whilst still wet. Simple as that.

The new Scandaleyes WOW Wings mascara is fab. With its unique 2 side brush, load up with the winged side, flare out with the curved side. Up to 11 times the volume.

(3 for 2 on all Rimmel London cosmetics)

OBSESSION is another fab brand in Boots. Mix up and make your own colour palettes. This is such a great idea as sometimes when you buy an eyeshadow or contouring palette there maybe some colours you don’t use. This way you can pick all your favourite colours. You have the choice of a 6 or 12 piece palette.

NYX cosmetics have some great products including the Ultimate eyeshadow palette in Brights. Packed with 16 high performance eyeshadows in a rainbow of tone inspired shades. This will certainly add a pop of colour to your outfits!

While stocks last, there is also an offer on if you spend £15 or more you will receive a free miniature ‘Worth the Hype’ mascara.

Their born to glow highlighting palette is perfect for those of you who like to shimmer. Packed with shimmery pearls to catch that natural light. You can use these alone or layered together.

All No7 products are hypoallergenic, even their nail varnish, so are great if you have sensitive skin. It is exclusive to BOOTS and their serums are clinically proven too.

One thing I didn’t know about No7 is, they don’t use models or airbrush any of their posters or ads, they test on real women! How great is that..

No7 is also the only counter that will colour match your foundation, concealer, blusher, bronzer and lipstick through their Match Made Service.

They always have great offers on including 3 for 2 and buy one, get second half price.

Their makeup Master Class and skincare perfection classes (which are free) provide one to one support and guidance allowing customers to apply what they have learned back in the comfort of their own homes. (Approx 40 mins) If you are local to the Metrocentre then pop in and ask to see Crystal, she is so friendly and will be able to answer any questions you have.

Their newest serum is a fast acting non-invasive wrinkle solution and one is sold every 7 seconds! You have to try it!

This was my finished look by Crystal at No7. She called this a ‘summer look’ it was very natural and It didn’t feel like I was wearing much makeup.

We started by taking the Match Made Service. This technique matches a foundation to your skin-true shade. You then get a card which offers all the best colours of lipsticks, concealer, blusher and bronzer that matches your foundation. Very clever. Everything that was used looked amazing, I was really impressed.

She started by removing my own makeup with the Micellar Water Then she applied the Laboratories Booster Serum followed by the Lift & luminate moisturiser.

Then Crystal applied a primer called Airbrush Away followed by the Instant Radiance foundation in colour Wheat.

The eyeshadow was gorgeous, it was called Rose Gold smoothing eyeshadow, which was really shimmery and pretty. The mascara used was called ‘Lash Extender‘ which is the newest mascara from No7

My eyebrows were slightly sculpted using the Beautiful Eyebrow Sculpting pencil in brown.

For my lips we went for the Moisture Drench lipstick in Rose Mist and finished off with the Pop and Glow cream blush stick in Classic Rose.

You know I love my nail polish and Essie have got some great colours at the minute. One of my favourites is Peach Daiquiri which is a lovely coral summer colour.

They also do the Gel Couture, which is a long lasting gel-like shine polish. There is no UV or LED lamp needed and 31 lush colours to choose from. I’ve linked my favourite gel colour here ESSIE and if you spend £8.99 or more on Essie, you will receive a free gift.

The one question I get asked the most is, “How do you curl your hair” I always use a large barrel/tong. I take sections of my hair and wrap it around the wand and hold for about 15/20 seconds.

The BaByliss boutique salon soft waves hair wand is a great hair tool. It’s a good size to create that natural loose wave and it doesn’t come with a huge price tag. Check out my stories and highlights under the name of BaByliss on my instagram page to see a video of how I use it and the end result.

The only product I use on my hair once it’s styled, is the OGX coconut oil hydrating mist which smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling really soft.
